The Minnesota Online Quality Initiative (MOQI) is sponsoring the following low cost online workshops starting on July 31. Online “Improving Your Online Course” Workshop

Improving Your Online Course (IYOC): July 31 – August 21      (Note: This workshop is for online or blended courses.)
Location: All online over three weeks – no class meetings.

Description: The “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online and blended courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own course using the QM Essential Standards. As part of the workshop, participants review course policies, general navigation, course alignment, and basic accessibility among other things. Throughout this workshop, participants receive feedback from their peers as well as the workshop facilitator. Each participant creates a course improvement plan to use for future course improvements once the workshop has concluded. This workshop is intended for faculty who have an online or blended course to work on during this workshop. It is not for developing a course from scratch.

Online “Applying the Quality Matters Rubric” Workshop

Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR): July 31 – August 14
Location: All online over two weeks – no class meetings.

Description: The Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop is QM’s flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the process of using the QM Rubric to review online courses. It provides an in-depth look at the QM Rubric and describes how the rubric standards can be used as part of a review process (informal or official) that leads to course improvement. The workshop is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors who wish to understand more about the QM Rubric and process of course review. During the workshop, participants will look at a sample course to identify areas for improvement, make decisions about whether or not standards are being met, and identify areas for course improvement.

The APPQMR is the pre-requisite for the Peer Reviewer Course, which is the required course to become a QM Peer Reviewer.

QUALITY MATTERS WORKSHOPS – {Face-to-Face}

Improving Your Online Course (IYOC): March 23 10am – 2:30pm
Location: Rochester Community and Technical College

The “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online and blended courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own course and develop a course improvement plan. It is highly recommended that you have an online or blended course to work on during this workshop. Cost: $35

Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR):  April 6 8:30am – 4pm
Location: Rochester Community and Technical College

The Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop is QM’s flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the process of using the QM Rubric to review online or blended courses. This workshop will give faculty experience applying some of the QM standards to an online course, explore challenges and solutions of online or blended course design and collaborate with other faculty. This workshop is the pre-requisite to taking the course for becoming a Certified Peer Reviewer. It is also a great workshop for those interested in learning more about the rubric and how it is used to review and suggest changes for course improvement. Cost: $45

Location: Anoka Ramsey Community College

The “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online and blended courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own course and develop a course improvement plan. It is highly recommended that you have an online or blended course to work on during this workshop. COURSE DESIGN WEBINARS {FREE ONLINE WEBINARS}

Minnesota Online Quality Initiative (MOQI) offers a series of free course design webinars. You can choose to take one, a few, or all of them as your schedule permits and they can be taken in any order.

The primary purpose of these sessions is to introduce participants to course design principles and best practices for effective teaching with technology. A list of the webinar descriptions and objectives is attached. There are only a few sessions left this spring and seats are filling up. With each webinar comes a D2L Module that we have created on the System D2L Site.
