QM Standards in Focus

Are you interested in learning more about course design or about how others apply the Quality Matters Standards in their courses?

magnifying glassThese 30 minute webinars are meant to provide a quick overview of one, two or a few Quality Matters Standards and will include specific examples from existing online or blended courses for how the standard can be met. The “In Focus” sessions are meant for faculty, staff, QMCs, Peer Reviewers and Master Reviewers from MnSCU institutions. The following sessions are currently available with more being added soon.

A Closer Look at Standards 1.8, 1.9 & 5.3 This session takes a closer look at Standards 1.8, 1.9 and 5.3 along with tips and examples for how to apply these standards in a course.

All About Standard 7 This session describes some easy ways to meet the four “Learner Support” standards that are part of Standard 7.

Scheduled for: September 24   12:15 – 12:45 PM

It Starts with Alignment—Standards 2.2, 3.1, and 5.1 Being able to demonstrate and check for alignment of your objectives, assessments and learning activities is important. Join this session to learn about a curriculum mapping template that can accomplish this important design element.

Scheduled for: October 1   12:15 – 12:45 PM

Untangling Standard 8.2 This session focuses on untangling confusion between Standard 8.2 and  other QM Standards and will discuss  why this standard is important for providing key information for students about accessibility of technologies chosen.

Scheduled for: October 8   12:15 – 12:45 PM

Focus on Standard 8.3 Is your course designed to be user-friendly and accessible? This session focuses on the many options to consider  to meet this accessibility standard.

Scheduled for: November 12   12:15 – 12:45 PM

Solving the Puzzle of Standards 2.4 and 4.2 Focuses on the interconnectedness of Standards 2.4 and 4.2. An example of a “roadmap” document will be shared that illustrates how to organize your course to meet standards.

Course Reviews—A Quick Overview

When: September 3 OR October 8   3:00—4:00 PM
This webinar is open to MnSCU faculty or staff who are interested in learning more about the QM Review process managed through the Minnesota Online Quality Initiative. This webinar will review roles, expectations, and timelines and provide tips for course preparation.  There will also be an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Helpful Recommendations

When: October 22   3:00—4:00 PM
This webinar is meant for all certified Peer Reviewers and Master Reviewers, whether new or experienced.

Helpful recommendations are the key to a successful course review. This webinar will review the mechanics of writing helpful recommendations during a course review and will include a discussion of the impact of writing “less than helpful” recommendations.
