Spring is here and along with it, there are even more opportunities for you to participate in a workshop or webinar to learn about QM and get ideas for improving your course design.

Improving Your Online Course (IYOC) Workshop

Location:  Bemidji State University
Date/ Time: April 30 from 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Cost: $40.00 for MnSCU faculty & staff. Each session is limited to 20 participants.

QM LogoThe “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online and blended courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own courses and develop a course improvement plan.

The content is based on the 21 essential Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric.  Participants come away with a plan for course improvement, so enrolling in the workshop with an online or blended course with a pre-developed course is required.

This 30 minute webinar will discuss some easy ways to meet the four “Learner Support” standards that are part of Standard 7.

Untangling Standard 8.2

This 30 minute webinar will focus on untangling the confusion between 8.2 and other QM Standards. It will include examples and ideas to meet the standard.

Writing Helpful Recommendations

This webinar is for Certified Peer Reviewers and Master Reviewers from Minnesota.
When: April 15 3-4 PM Central Time

Helpful recommendations are the key to a successful course review. This webinar will review the mechanics of writing helpful recommendations during a course review and will include a discussion of the impact of writing “less than helpful” recommendations.

Three QM Workshops — All on April 23!

QM LogoThe Minnesota Online Quality Initiative is hosting three Quality Matters workshops on April 23, 2015 at the Edina location of Minnesota State University, Mankato (7700 France Avenue S., Edina, MN).  This workshop day is being held as a “pre-conference” event the day before the Minnesota D2L Ignite Regional User’s Forum 2015 being held on April 24 in Minnetonka, MN.  These sessions are open to faculty and staff from MnSCU institutions. To reserve your spot, register here.

Session 1: Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)

Time: 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Session 2: Designing Your Online Course (DYOC)

Time: 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Description: The “Designing Your Online Course” workshop includes an overview of the QM Rubric and provides a framework for participants to design an online course plan. An integral element of the workshop is exploration of the eight key standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning objectives and overall course alignment.  Participants will complete a Learning Objectives and Planning Worksheet to design one module of an online course. The worksheet includes course and module learning objectives, assessments that match the learning objectives, instructional materials that support the learning objectives and activities, and tools and media that enhance student interaction with classmates, content, and the instructor.  Cost: $60 for MnSCU participants.

Session 3: Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)

Time: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
Description:  The Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) workshop is QM’s flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the process of using the QM Rubric to review online courses. It is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors who wish to understand more about the QM Rubric and process of course review.

The APPQMR is the pre-requisite for the Peer Reviewer Course, which is the required course to become a QM Peer Reviewer.    Cost:  $50.00 for MnSCU participants.
